About Me
Me
Welcome to the home page of Joachim Nilsson. I am one of the guys running this server, my fellow sysadmin is Jakob Eriksson.
History so far...
In 1995 I enrolled in the computer engineering program at Mälardalen University. My masters thesis "Modular Scheduling in RTLinux" was done at MRTC and at BlueLabs (now part of FlexTronics). The resulting report is available as PDF or Gzipped PostScript.
When I graduated in the summer of 2000 I was employed as an R&D Engineer at RealFast AB where I worked with operating systems implemented in ASIC's and FPGA's. During the recession in 2002 I was out of work for a couple of months, but started working as a VxWorks and Linux consultant at ÅF in October. There I was involved in a rather extensive Linux USB 2.0 driver for EssNet. For various reasons I got fed up with being a consultant and in December 2005 I switched to my current employment at Westermo R&D, where I am part of a team developing new high-speed industrial gigabit switches. The firmware is based on Linux and uClinux, all great fun!
In Oct. 2006 we adopted a house in Skultuna. All my previous projects fall short with a family and a house, but I make up for it at work. The little spare time I have left I usually spend with Ilse and our children. I still get time over to meditate though, but that's about it.
In Feb. 2008 I was suddenly appointed Software Architect at Westermo. I'm still in a bit of a chock about this, but am aptly adjusting myself to the new opportunities and responsibilities that comes with the job. It'll be an interesting experience, no doubt. ;-)
